Social Investment
We understand the power of investing in people. Our Corporate Social Investment projects have a strong developmental approach and utilise company resources to benefit and uplift communities. We go beyond our call of duty to
assist where we can.
We donated over a hundred blankets to the elderly community of Jackson’s Drift in the south of Johannesburg during hard lockdown so that they could keep warm through the challenging winter of 2020. We also donated hundreds of food parcels to the Jackson’s Drift community, the community in Scottburgh (KwaZulu-Natal), as well as to the struggling community near Jeffrey’s Bay
(Western Cape).
We consider education fundamental to creating opportunities for future employment and for contributing to a thriving South African economy. We believe if you educate a child, you educate the future nation.
Light Fibre donated 20 computers with full satellite internet connectivity and a brand-new school sign to TM Letlhake Secondary School, Bekkersdal in 2018. We also supplied sanitary towels for the girls in the school to assist with their personal health care and to reduce absenteeism.
We also donated 15 computers to the Tshivhulana Primary School in Vhembe, Limpopo Province, and ensured that the premises received satellite connection so the school and community can always have access to the internet.

Light Fibre also assisted multiple SMME’s in the Eastern Cape through training and development programmes. SMME’s from the Makana, Grahamstown, and Port Elizabeth areas were exposed to various skills development programmes which included Health and Safety, Business Management skills, as well as practical training on Civil Construction processes and procedures.
Light Fibre sponsored the Port Elizabeth local soccer team in Ward 60, where we funded soccer kits, trophies, balls, and medals for their community soccer tournament. At the same time, we donated many blankets to the elderly people of Ward 53 in Port Elizabeth.
Economic Development
Light Fibre is committed to the growth and development of the South African economy and we support the National Development Plan for SMME’s. We have employed the services of more than 300 SMME’s who in turn have employed over 8500 people. We have furthermore directly employed over 18 000 individuals on various contracts around the country. We actively engage with SMME’s within the communities we work in and partner with them to create employment and develop and enhance skills. We believe in leaving behind meaningful and tangible benefits for these SMME’s for their future growth and business success.
